Jialishan (加里山 / JiaLi Mountain) is located in in the Nanzhuang Township of Miaoli County, along the Jialishan mountain range. The range is regarded as the northern part of the “Western Thrust Fault Mountains.” The Jialishan range faces the Xueshan Range on the east, and the Alishan Range on the south. The area was once used by the Japanese to transport wood, camphor oil, citronella oil and coal down from the mountain slopes.

This trail is well maintained, but a relatively steep climb of over 4km (one-way), passing through beautiful pine forests, abandoned Japanese rail lines, and more forested beauty. This is a beautiful hike for intermediate level hikers in Taiwan. There are sections with ropes and technical climbing sections. It is a nice challenge for those who are just getting their feet dirty, but please determine your fitness level and capability

Daily Itinerary
DAY 1

• 06:30 – Bus Pick Up: Taipei Main Station(在台北車站集合並搭上 Parkbus)
• 08:30 – Arrive: Jiali Mountain(抵達加里山步道)

• 16:00 – Bus Departure(集合並搭上 Parkbus 返回台北市)
• 18:30 – Estimated Return: Taipei Main Station(預計抵達台北車站)

**WHAT TO BRING**

  • Water, lunch, snacks, personal items (eg bug repellant, camera, money, etc). Come prepared with everything you'll need for the day
  • Comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots
  • Weather-appropriate clothing. Check forecast closer to trip date

  • You alone are responsible for your safety in the parks and forest recreation areas we visit. Many dangers exist, natural and man-made.
  • You alone are responsible for being at pickup/drop-off areas on time. If you miss the return bus, you may become stranded in an area with no cellphone reception and will be responsible for arranging alternative transportation.
